FIRST TIME FUNDRAISER PROVES A WINNER DESPITE TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES

The Roland Cadieux Memorial Golf Outing fundraiser to benefit Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank was a huge success. It took place on Tuesday, July 28 at Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club. Despite tough economic times $20,000 in food donations and cash was raised from this first time fundraising event.

“We’re very grateful to Roland’s Electric, Inc. for their support of Long Island Cares which delivers food to the more than 540 community based pantries, soup kitchens, day care centers and other programs that rely on support from Long Island Cares to feed the over 260,000 children, adults and families on Long Island affected by hunger and malnutrition,” said Paule T. Pachter, Executive Director of Long Island Cares, Inc.

Long Island Cares, The Harry Chapin Food Bank is a leading anti-hunger organization and the only food bank on Long Island. The organization was founded in 1980 by the late singer/activist Harry Chapin in response to the immediate needs of hungry Long Islanders. It is continued today by his wife and partner Sandy Chapin, a dedicated Board of Directors and talented staff.
